Von 1920 bis 1925 wurde bei Kochel/See in Bayern eine Großfunkstation für den Funkbetrieb auf Längstwelle gebaut. Die Antenne mit einer Länge von etwa 3000m wurde vom Gipfel des Herzogstand zu einem weiter unten liegenden Berg gespannt.
Später wurde die Station zur Ionosphärenforschung genutzt.
Antenne und Stationsgebäude sind längst abgerissen. Unsere Aktivität soll an diese Funkstation, ihre Erbauer und die tapferen Frauen und Männer erinnern, die dort gearbeitet haben.

De 1920 a 1925, se construyó una gran estación de radio de onda larga cerca de Kochel/See en Baviera. La antena con una longitud de unos 3000m fue extendida desde la cima del Herzogstand hasta una montaña más baja.
Más tarde, la estación fue utilizada para la observación de la ionosfera.
La antena y el edificio de la estación fueron demolidos hace tiempo. Nuestra actividad debe recordarnos a esta radio, a sus constructores y a los valientes hombres y mujeres que trabajaron allí.
De 1920 à 1925, une grande station radio à ondes longues fut construite près de Kochel/See en Bavière. L'antenne d'une longueur d'environ 3000 m a été étirée du sommet du Herzogstand vers une montagne plus basse.
Plus tard, la station a été utilisée pour la recherche ionosphérique.
L'antenne et le bâtiment de la station ont été démolis depuis longtemps. Notre activité doit nous rappeler cette station de radio, ses bâtisseurs et les braves hommes et femmes qui y ont travaillé.
Nearly 100 years ago a radio station and aerial system was built near Kochel, Bavaria
for a station designed to operate at very low frequency for overseas communication.
The antennas were not supported by masts, rather, the wires were affixed on the summit
of the Herzogstand - Mountain at 1735m above sea level and spanned nearly 3000m.
Later on the station was used for ionospheric research for many years.
Antenna and all buildings are long gone. Our activity serves as a reminder to the brave women and men who built and worked in this radio station.
